Installation

Before any karndean flooring or luxury vinyl floor is installed, it is vital the preparation is completed to the manufacturers guidelines. This can include a layer of plywood, usually used over an existing chipboard or floorboard subfloor starting at 5.5mm in thickness.

Floor smoothing compounds often referred to as Latex are applied at a minimum thickness of 3mm and these can be applied to plywood or concrete subfloors.

A damp proof membrane could also be required if the subfloor doesn't meet the manufacturers guidelines. This normally refers to moisture being released from the subfloor due to either a new concrete subfloor which hasn't had time to dry out or an existing concrete subfloor that has no working sheet membrane usually in properties older than 1965.

The installation of Luxury vinyl flooring not only includes the actual cutting of the planks but also maintaining the conditions and temperature of the room. Too hot or too cold can have an effect on the future look of your flooring. The adhesives used varies between luxury vinyl tile manufacturers and installation conditions for each room.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning and maintenance of your luxury vinyl flooring is quick and simple. You can use a soft bristle brush, a Hoover or vacuum or a spray mop with the manufacturers recommended cleaning solutions added. We do not recommend using a steam mop on luxury vinyl flooring. On completion of your new floor a manufacturers cleaning guide will be issued.

Every manufacturer has their own product guarantees and these can differ depending on the manufacturer and quality of the product. As a general rule, the more a product costs the better the quality of raw materials used in manufacturing process which reflects on the product warranty.

Any manufacturer that has an online warranty registration will be completed by us upon completion of your new floor.
